The 3 Sum enables us to split a stereo signal into 3 different bands and then process each band with a different piece of outboard equipment in the mastering process. For example, the lower frequencies could be compressed using The Phoenix, the mid range frequencies using The Slam and the higher frequencies using the Maselec. This is a great piece of equipment for mastering by allowing many different configurations.
